Kwanzaa Economics after thoughts

After writing my economics rant yesterday I went to Youtube to kill some time. On my subscription page was a new video from San Fransisco's Mayor Newsom. (BTW Newsom does a great job at harnessing online social networks to use for communicating with the citizens. His weekly Youtube Addresses usually seem more interesting than even Obamas. Many mayor and public officials could learn how to use online social media from Gavin Newsom.)

It seems that San Francisco is providing loans to help new sustainable energy businesses
. This is exactly what I think cities need to do. Instead of relying upon the fed to provide the needed assistance for the citizens of a city or county why not the city itself?

Of course, this causes major financial problems, especially when little over-sight is in place. Just yesterday I was reading a story about how now San Francisco is running into problems with this. My hope is that more citizens become active in governmental over-sight boards.

With the many programs in place I believe that San Francisco is a leader in the new role the city plays. A role that uses less reliance upon outside influence and reliance upon those from within.
